Practice Makes Perfect?

People tell you that you need to practice, but what does that mean, and how to know if your practice is helping master your craft. This course is designed to get you started as a writer, to do the equivalent of strength and conditioning at the gym, and help you build up your writing muscle so that putting words on a page is comfortable and natural for you. The exercises will help you find your own style, even if you feel you don’t have a voice yet.

Becoming a Better Writer…

Practice Makes Perfect?

People tell you that you need to practice, but what does that mean, and how to know if your practice is helping master your craft. This course is designed to get you started as a writer, to do the equivalent of strength and conditioning at the gym, and help you build up your writing muscle so that putting words on a page is comfortable and natural for you. The exercises will help you find your own style, even if you feel you don’t have a voice yet.

What Makes ‘Good’ Writing?

We help you see progress because you’re learning how to write to the four core principles of good non-fiction writing: connection, communication, creativity, and confidence (the four ‘Cs’.)

All twelve exercises are carefully designed to build upon each other and develop your capacity in each of the four principles. Although they are easy to complete, the exercises are part of a more sophisticated whole.

Who's This For?

This online writing course is designed for authors and bloggers at any level, and is the perfect complement to publishing or other technical classes you may be taking. It’s great if you’re a beginner writer, if you’re deep into writing a nonfiction book, or if you’re an experienced writer who wants to freshen-up their routine.

It’s also a perfect fit for you if you’re creating video, audio or any kind of written information product; the same principles of good content creation apply and the exercises will improve your work, no matter what format you end up putting out your content.

Who’s it NOT for?

The course is not for you if you aren’t prepared to give it a go. We don’t expect you to publish your work—all the exercises are done behind the privacy of your computer screen or in a journal, but, if you’re not prepared to even have a go, we’d rather not have you in this class.

How to get the Most Out of the Class?

We recommend you work through all twelve exercises one day at a time. After that you can come back and play with the ones you like best, or you can pick the ones you think will give a boost to whatever are of your writing you want to strengthen, or you can repeat the same exercise a few days in a row playing with different formats and different content to stretch your creativity muscle, or, perhaps you choose a random exercise to get into the flow at the beginning of your writing session.

What Do I Get?

After you purchase the class, you’ll be sent a DOWNLOAD link in an email. The link is your personal link and is good for 24 hours so please do download the material as soon as you purchase.

The download link is a zipped file which contains with 17 short videos, including 12 videos explaining each exercise, and a pdf handbook. Please save this to your computer and the right click and you should be able to ‘unzip’. Most likely the folder will unzip as you download it but, in case not, here are further instructions for windows users, and for mac users. (please note that links go to external sites.)

We hope you enjoy the class and here’s to becoming a better writer!
